How to Set Up Outlook 2003 on the Remote Server

NOTE: It is not required that you configure your email for Outlook 2003. This information is being provided for those Agents and Staff who would prefer to use Outlook for their email client instead of or in addition to the Web Based Email Client. If you don't want to do this, you don't have to!

In this document, the picture for each step listed is located above the steps.

Step 1: On the PC, select Start | All Programs | Accessories | Communications | Remote Desktop Connection. If you don't have that icon, download and install this file. The Remote Desktop Connection comes with Windows XP, but it must be installed on Windows 95/98/ME/2000 and NT.

Step 2: In the "Computer" box, type in "remote.prudentialcranbrookrealtors.com" and then click "Connect"

Step 3: Type in your User ID and Password. Make sure the "Log on to:" box is set to "PCRLOCAL" and then click OK. Use the SAME UserID and password here that you use to access your email. For Example: Melinda Nagler = mnagler

Step 4: On the remote server, Click Start | All Programs | Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.

Step 5: Click Next.

Step 6: Leave it checked "Yes", and click Next.

Step 7: Click "Additional Server Types" and Click Next.

Step 8: Click Next.

Step 9: In the "Server Name" Box, type mail.prudentialcranbrookrealtors.com and in the "Account Name" box, type the first part of your email address (First Initial, Last Name - For example "Melinad Nagler" is mnagler) and then click "Check Connection." Don't worry - the "Server Name" box cannot fit the name of the mail server, but keep typing. It will look weird as it does in the picture, but it will work if you type it correctly.

Step 10: If Step 9 worked, it will look like this. Then, Click OK.

Step 11: Click OK.

Step 12: Click OK.
Step 13: Exit Outlook.

Step 14: Repeat Step 4. (Start | All Programs | Microsoft Office | Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.)
Step 15: Do your thing - use your email until you are done. Then, Close Outlook 2003. Then Log Off

Step 16: You MUST Log Off, and NOT Disconnect from the Remote Session. If you see the Disconnect Message, you are doing it wrong! Hit Cancel. Then instead, Click Start | Log Off. And then Click OK.

Enjoy! Outlook 2003 is a very good email client. When configured as I describe here, it can be used to connect to the Kerio mail server. You can do fun stuff like Import and Export Contacts, Create Appointments, etc.

All the things you do here will be accessible at the regular email location too!
