Troubleshooting Remote Access and ShowingDesk
| Item | Symptom | Description |
| 1 | Can't Print | If you use ShowingDesk remotely, but are unable to print, this may be because of the type of printer that you have connected to your PC. Terminal Services attempts to connect your default printer when you connect remotely. If your printer driver does not exist on the Terminal Server, then you will be unable to print. Try Item 2 below, and if it does not fix you, then email me with the EXACT model of your printer, and the Operating System you are using (For example, "Lexmark X74" and "Windows 98".) |
| 2 | Can't Print | If your default printer is a USB or Network Printer, you will need to download a file to your desktop, then unzip it, then double click it to install it. This file modifies your PC so that Terminal Server can "map" Printers that are connected to USB or IP ports instead of just LPT or COM ports. Download it here: FixTSPrinting.zip (If you are a geek and want to know why, read the reason here.) You must log off remotely and log back in before the fix will work. |
| 3 | Can't Print | If you are not sure why you are unable to print, I suggest that you try Item 2 first. Item 2 will not hurt anything if it is done to a PC that does not need it. |
| 4 | Not Getting Emails | If you are using ShowingDesk remotely, and you are not receiving emails from the showing appointment, then you must verify your email address that is within your profile on http://www.realcomponline.com . Fix it there, and then wait. Realcomp only updates the Agent Roster on Monday nights after 10PM, so your change will not get into ShowingDesk until Tuesday mornings. That means it could take up to a week for the email address to be corrected, depending on when you fix it. You need to check your agent information within ShowingDesk and make sure the email listed is spelled right, does not have any spaces or special characters, and is not blank! If it is broken in ShowingDesk, fix it at RealComp. |
| 5 | Can't sign on to Homeowner Report Page | If you cannot sign in to www.showingdesk.com it could be because you are trying to use your email UserID and email Password. These will not work! The only way to get a UserID and Password for the Homeowner Activity Reports is to receive an email from ShowingDesk. See item 4. The UserID and Password for ShowingDesk is generated by their system and is sent to you in an email. It won't come to you if your email address is not right in Realcomponline. |
